Beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh Jennings has taken home gold medals in the last three Summer Olympic Games she competed in with her former partner Misty May-Treanor. Now she’s training for her fifth Olympics (she previously played indoor volleyball) and fourth beach volleyball Olympic games with new partner, April Ross. Her road to another gold isn’t without some setbacks–Walsh-Jennings dislocated her shoulder twice in the past year, which resulted in her needing surgery to correct the issue. The 37-year-old mother of three pushed herself to return to her peak performance shape instead of letting a setback like this end her career.

“I really just want to be the best that I’ve ever been in my whole life, and I’m not there yet. There’s still more inside of me,” says Walsh-Jennings.  Her physical therapy sessions and diet are vital to her recovery and training because they help strengthen her newly-repaired muscles and fuel her athletic performance.  Her drive, positive attitude, and diet are just some of the tools she has used on her climb back to the top of the sport.
