The No. 1 reason sex is more fun on vacation is because you’re relaxed and feeling indulgent. Your normal life can get so busy that sex slides down your priority list, and becomes two half-sleeping zombies casually trying to find the spark right before they pass out for the night. On vacation, sex can happen any time of the day, you’re better able to focus, and you’re probably more in tune with your body.
Being on vacation can also bring out a wilder side of people. When it’s not your day-to-day life, you can feel free to act a little kinkier or try something new. That whole “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” bit carries over to the bedroom because you can lose your inhibitions and be more experimental. In that way, you feel far less embarrassed and vulnerable.
But here’s the trick: If you’re having really great sex on vacation, do your best to take the lessons back home with you: So: a) have sex at varying times of day, not just before bed; b) get work out of your head and take time to concentrate on the moment; and c) give yourself license to experiment, even get a little crazy.
