Single-Leg Bent-Knee Calf Raise

The single-leg bent-knee calf raise is an effective lower leg exercise that strengthens the calves. By remaining seated, this variation works the soleus muscle in the calves, and thus higher reps will lead to more growth.

Instructions

    Stand on the balls of one foot with your knee slightly bent. Hold onto a chair for support if needed.
  2. Single-Leg Bent-Knee Calf Raise
    With your toes pointed forward, flex your calf to raise your body up as high as you can. Pause, then lower to return to the start position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Contract the calves at the peak extension of the movement.
  • Drop the heel as far as possible at the bottom of the movement for the greatest stretch.
