The Rock has decided to test his dramatic acting chops by agreeing to play the lead in Not Without Hope, which is based on the book of the same name written by Nick Schuyler.

Schuyler and three friends, Will Bleakley and former NFL players Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper, went fishing in Florida in 2009. A storm was brewing, and in an effort to free a stuck anchor, the boat capsized and the men where thrown into the water. Schuyler was the only one who survived, and Not Without Hope is his account of what happened on that fishing trip. The Rock took to Twitter to confirm his participation in the project recently.

To say that the Rock is a busy man is a serious understatement. Right now he is shooting Fast & Furious 7 straight after coming from the set of Hercules in Budapest, where he spent several months shooting the blockbuster.

In the past few weeks he also committed to Seal Team 666 and The Fall Guy. Oh, and he also has a new reality series, Wake Up Call, on TNT in the works for early 2014.

Speaking of Fast and Furious – be sure to enter our giveaway for a free copy of the sixth installment of the franchise – The Rock posted this shot from the set of F&F7 in full character name mode:

He also took time recently to take a trip down WWE memory lane to Mark The 17th anniversary of his debut with this awesome photo:
