WWE aired its flagship Monday Night Raw show in Manchester, England, and the sparks were quickly flying.

Wade Barrett, also known as ‘King Barrett’ after winning the prestigious King of the Ring tournament, has a habit of taking scathing verbal shots at his opponents, but on Monday night went a step further and lambasted one of the world’s most famous soccer players… only to be smacked down in response.

Wayne Rooney, who is a WWE fan was watching the action from the front row with his son when Barrett turned his attention on the Manchester United captain, calling him out with the following quote:

“I’d hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let’s face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.” Rooney, who holds a record 300 goals in his professional career, retorted with a slap that had the thousands in attendance cheering for more.

This isn’t the first time the two have traded insults. Earlier this year Barrett took to twitter to criticize Rooney, saying that he ‘dived’ in a match. As the twitter exchange went on, it even looked as though the two could lock horns at a future WrestleMania, but then many said it would never happen since Rooney had too many football commitments.

This latest incident, which is already being reported all over the world, could be huge for the WWE. Barrett vs. Rooney? Stranger things have happened at WrestleMania!
