Overhead Dumbbell Triceps Extension

The overhead dumbbell triceps extension is an isolation exercise that strengthens the triceps while improving shoulder stability.


  1. 6082_A
    Grab a pair of dumbbells and stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Extend your arms overhead, your palms facing each other.
  2. Overhead Dumbbell Triceps Extension
    Bend your elbows to lower the dumbbells behind your head until they are perpendicular to the floor. Pause, then straighten your arms to return the dumbbells to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Do not let your elbows bow out. Keep them close to your head.
  • Slowly lower the dumbbells.
  • Squeeze your triceps at the top of the movement.
