2011 is turning into quite a year for Juan Morel. First, he earned his pro card earlier this September with an overwhelming super-heavy and overall win at the 2011 IFBB North American Championships. The icing on the cake? The 29-year old New York native signed an exclusive contract with AMI/Weider and will start his IFBB Pro League career as a Weider athlete. After signing the contract, a glowing Morel stated: “I’m very excited and means a great deal to me to be a Weider athlete it is an honor words can’t express how I feel!”

Morel first turned heads after placing second in the heavy class at last year’s North Americans and the NPC Nationals. Earlier this July, he moved up to the super-heavy class and placed runner-up at the NPC USA before securing pro status at the North Americans. Gifted with wide clavicles and a narrow waist, Morel, has the potential to be a serious threat in the big leagues. For now, Morel is hard at work in the gym adding quality muscle to his 5’11’ frame for his pro debut at Steve Weinberger’s 2012 New York Pro in May.
