Explosive Crossover Pushup

The explosive crossover pushup is a dynamic, multi-joint exercise that improves strength and power throughout the chest, shoulders, and triceps. This exercise also improves cardiovascular and muscular endurance.


  1. 1030_A
    Place a weight plate on the floor and begin in a traditional pushup position with one hand on the weight plate and the other on the floor. Your body should form a straight line from your shoulders to your ankles.
  2. Explosive Crossover Pushup
    Lower yourself to the floor, and then explosively push up so your hands come off the floor.
  3. 1030_C
    Land with the other hand on the weight plate and back in the top of pushup position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Perform the pushups through a full range of motion.
  • Do not let your elbows flare too far out to the side.
  • Brace your core throughout the entire exercise.
