Lying Dumbbell Raise

The lying dumbbell raise is an isolation exercise that strengthens the entire shoulder. Performing the exercise lying down ensures the shoulder is completely isolated throughout the range of motion.


  1. 1111_A
    Lie on one side, supporting your head with your hand. Hold a dumbbell in the opposite hand in front of your chest with your arm fully extended.
  2. Lying Dumbbell Raise
    Raise the dumbbell up toward the ceiling so that your arm is perpendicular to the floor. Pause, then return the weight to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Do not shrug the weight up. Focus on raising it with the shoulders.
  • Raise and lower the weight in a slow and controlled manner.
