Joe Weider’s 2010 Olympia Weekend kicked off tonight with the 202 weigh-ins and the men’s athlete meeting. The night was hardly uneventful.

In the first headline-making moment of the weekend, Eduardo Correa — last year’s third-place finisher and a favorite to finish in the top three or higher this year — was nearly disqualified for weighing over the 202-pound limit.

Correa weighed 205 pounds for the first round of weigh-ins at 730. All 202 competitors were instructed that, in the event they weighed over the 202 limit, they would be allowed back for a second weigh-in at 9 pm. If they failed to make weight at that time they would disqualified from the contest.

But Correa nearly missed weight at that time as well, initially tipping the scales at 202.8 pounds at 8:52, before finally hitting 202 pounds on the nose at the 9 pm deadline.

No other 202 competitors missed the 202-pound limit at the first round of weigh-ins.
