Last night in downtown New York City, 17 IFBB Pro Fitness competitors took the stage at the 2011 IFBB New York Pro Fitness Championships, held in conjunction with the NPC Steve Stone Metropolitan Bodybuilding, Figure, Fitness, Bikini, and Men’s Physique Championships.
The billing of pre-show favorite proved to be no pressure for Camala Rodriguez, who was the clear winner in both the physique and routine rounds. In only her second year on the pro circuit, Rodriguez already grabbed fourth place at the Fitness International and now a win (her second) in NY. She will look to continue the momentum next week at the FIBO contest in Germany.
Second place went to Bethany Wagner, who delivered in the physique round with a well balanced, conditioned, and flowing figure. The routine round has always been the hard part for Wagner and she is showing continued improvement. Third place went to Michelle Blank in her pro-debut. Blank turned pro in 2010 at the NPC Jr. Nationals and not even a year later, she is now qualified for the 2011 Fitness Olympia!
It was a great contest for competitors and fans alike, as we’ve come to expect from Steve Weinberger and crew. The stage at the Tribecca Performing Arts Center is officially warmed up for the IFBB NY PRO on May 28!
