LOWDOWN

Name the best bodybuilders in history and these two guys are likely to be among them. Although Lee Haney amassed eight Olympia wins during his nine-year pro career versus none for Flex Wheeler in his eleven-year span, you’d be hard-pressed to definitively state that a prime Haney would dominate a peak Wheeler in a head-to-head matchup.

SHOWDOWN

Wheeler possessed impeccable lines, a detailed back, ponderous arms and crisply defined quads. Haney had a jaw-dropping V taper, a monstrous back and the countenance of a champ.

POSEDOWN!

Based on their respective top forms, the edge must go to Wheeler, for his better balance between upper and lower body. However, it’s important to keep in mind that Haney retired from competition after the 1991 Olympia, which he won at age 31. Had he continued competing, there’s little doubt he would have risen to the challenges of Wheeler and the rest of the ’90s crew.
