Side Lunge to Crossover Tap

The side lunge to crossover tap is a total body exercise that targets the inner thighs, quads, hamstrings and glutes. The exercise improves balance, stability and control by engaging each leg one at a time.

Instructions

  1. 450_A
Stand tall with your hands on your hips.
  2. Side Lunge to Crossover Tap
Exhale and take a large step to the side. Descend hips down and bend the left knee as the trail leg remains straight. At your lowest point, reach down and touch fingertips to floor.
  3. 450_C
Push through the heel of left leg and drive your hips to ceiling. Instead of returning to the start position, extend hands over head and swoop your lead leg across your standing leg and tap the floor. Immediately step out into the lunge position to initiate another repetition.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Do not let your torso rotate. Keep your shoulders square.
  • Do not round the lower back and keep chin parallel to ground.
  • Do not allow the trailing leg cave inward.
