Arnold Schwarzenegger’s old characters are making a comeback.

Terminator Genisys hasn’t even hit theaters yet, and new details about the new Legend of Conan film are making headlines. Chris Morgan, the producer/co-writer of the film and Fredrik Malmberg sat down with The ArnoldFans regarding the upcoming film. It won’t be a remake, but rather a sequel set 30 years after the last film. Morgan says it will be anything but light-hearted.

Old Characters Return

Arnold Confirms Andre the Giant's Legendary Generosity

“[Conan is] a thief, warrior, pirate, a king, a legend. Think Unforgiven…with a sword-wielding barbarian,” Morgan says. He continued, saying he hopes the new film will expand on the story in a way audiences will embrace. Those who are helping to establish this film — writers, producers, and Arnold — were the pioneers of the first one, hinting that there will also be a return of three original characters. The ArnoldFans speculate those characters could be The Wolf Witch (Cassandra Gave), Subatai (Gerry Lopez), Red Hair and the Pictish scout (Franco Columbu).

Malmberg says that film’s backdrop will look amazing — with the possibility of filming in places like Spain and Colombia. Since Conan is a top-rated Arnold film according to fans, Malmberg indicates that Conan will still be a fierce fighter, “He doesn’t think, he just acts.” As for production of the The Legend of Conan, he hopes it starts right away.

Arnold shared his excitement about the film when it was announced about two years ago, “It’s the greatest honor to be 67 years old and to still be asked to come back into all these franchises. Whether it is the Terminator movie or it is now Conan, it is fantastic!”
