Judo Pushup

The judo pushup is an advanced progression of the pushup that targets the shoulders and triceps. The exercise also improves lower back flexibility.


  1. 6_A
    From a pushup position, spread your feet wide and move them towards your hands a few inches, shortening the regular pushup position. Raise your hips so your body forms an inverted V.
  2. Judo Pushup
    Lower the front of your body with your arms until your chin nears the floor while keeping your elbows close to your body.
  3. 6_C
    At the bottom of the movement, swoop your head and shoulders upward while lowering your hips until they almost touch the floor. Reverse the motion and return to start.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Avoid dropping hips too early. Keep hips raised until you have already lowered the chin close to the floor.
