When I look at other women, especially when we’re at the beach, my wife gets mad at me for “checking them out.” I think of it as a subconscious reflex. How do I get her to understand?

It’s true that men are visual creatures, and admiring the beauty of another woman is a perfectly normal pastime. Boldly indulging in eye candy while in the presence of your wife, however, is asking for trouble. Your actions may be reflexive, but you still have a choice on how you respond to visual, uh, stimuli. Modifying your behavior is easier than eliminating your wife’s aggravation. Not every woman is threatened by this behavior, but your wife is, so wait to ogle when she’s not around.
