Body Bar Oblique Twist

This exercise increases strength, stability, and rotational power throughout the core with an emphasis on the obliques.


  1. 941_A
    Standing in a shoulder-width stance, hold a body bar or unloaded barbell over one shoulder with both hands grasping the bar.
  2. Body Bar Oblique Twist
    Brace your core and then twist your upper body until the bar is pointing directly in front of you. Contract your obliques as you rotate. Return to the starting position.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Make each twist of the torso deliberate and contract the abs with each rep.
  • Stand tall and do not let the shoulders slouch.
