Q & A

M&F: How did you get started in bodybuilding?

CC: I have always been very passionate about sports, fitness and pushing my mind and body to new heights. I started really lifting and training hard when I was preparing for my freshman year of college football. After football was over, I still had that competitive drive alive inside me. I then decided to primarily start training for aesthetics. It wasn’t until the summer of 2015 that I was introduced to my now good friend and coach, IFBB Pro Deniz Duygulu. Deniz came to the barbershop I work at, and after several conversations about bodybuilding, asked if I ever thought about competing in the Men’s Physique competition. From that day forward, I dove deep into the fitness world. Bodybuilding has gone from one of my interests to my lifestyle.

What is your go-to workout routine?

My go-to workout right now is squats followed closely by seated triceps French curls.

What is your current diet and supplement plan?

My current diet is a carb-cycling program for show prep, which includes me eating 8 oz of protein every two hours with varying carbs and veggies. The supplements and vitamins I take daily include a men’s multivitamin, CLA, vitamin C, B12, D3, and fish oil. I take Mesomorph by APS Nutrition and Off the Chain BCAA’s by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals for my pre-workout. I drink Isomorph Protein by APS Nutrition immediately after strength training, followed by my carb-cycling drink. I drink a lot of water daily, two gallons to be exact.

What motivates you to train your hardest?

All of my motivation comes from within. I am working to become the best version of me, and I am relentless in my mission. I have goals and dreams today for what I want my future to look like, and I know the only way I will achieve them is by putting in the work every day, week after week.

What tips would you give someone who is looking to reach their own training goals?

The most important tip I can give to someone who is looking to reach their own training goals is to make this way of life a commitment, not an interest. I say this because I was told that when you are interested in doing something you only do it when it’s convenient. When you’re fully committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.
