The isometric barbell bench press increases strength throughout the upper body, more specifically the chest, shoulders, and triceps. The isometric pause in the exercise improves muscular endurance of the target areas. The isometric hold creates more time under tension, which is one of the elements that help with muscle growth. The pause can also remove momentum and help improve sticking points in the exercise.
