Simmer 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, 1 cinnamon stick, a one-inch piece of thinly sliced turmeric (or 1⁄2 tsp dried), 1⁄2-inch thinly sliced ginger, and a dash of black pepper for 10 minutes.
